TACTS Web Page Constants Form Tab
Last Update of this page: December 15, 1998
The primary function of this form is to define and maintain various constants that are used in the operation of TACTS and in the generation of the various card tables.
It is very important that there is only ONE entry in the table associated with this form.
Notice there is no record navigation bar at the bottom of the window.
If there is more than one record here, the entire system may not operate correctly.
The application start-up logic will detect if there are multiple records here and you will be warned.
If no record is available in the table for this form, a default record will be created.
There are eight fields, one check box, and one Command Button on the form tab.
The function of these fields is:
- Name - Enter your name here.
When the card tables web pages are generated, there are several comments generated at the beginning of the web page source code.
Among these comments is the name of the page author. This name is entered there.
To customize the web page author, be sure to enter your name here.
- Email - Enter your email address here.
This is also located in the comments generated at the start of each web page source and is used for the mail to tag in each generated page.
The visible label for the tag says "mail me an offer".
Underlying this label is a mailto link indicated this email address.
If you register the application, the registration number is customized to the email address entered in this field.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you contact me for a new registration number is you modify the email address in this field after you have registered the application.
A possible application enhancement would be to provide an 'email' gif.
This would be a file that could be used as a gif link for the mailto.
This would allow for those fancy animated email gif mailto links.
- Cards Background - This is the gif file that appears as the background on every page.
I can either change this to add another different file for the CCG cards, or move this field into the card series form.
If it gets moved to the card series form, we could potentially have a different gif background for every card series.
I don't need this changed as I like the same background for all the pages.
Let Me Know if you think this should be changed.
- MainPage - This is the name of your own main cards trading page file.
It is the underlying reference for the "Trading Card Main Page" link that appears before and after every card table.
This is the first link on every related pages link section.
This can be an absolute or a relative path.
I recommend keeping your card trading main page in the same directory as the generated pages and using only the file name.
- MainCCG - This is the name of your own main CCG cards trading page file.
It is the underlying reference for the "CCG Cards Main Page" link that appears before and after every ccg card table.
This is the second link on every related pages link section for all ccg pages.
The same file name path comments apply to this file name as to the MainPage field.
- Web Path - This is the local directory path where the generated html files should be placed.
As it currently stands, all the generated pages need to be placed in the same directory.
This includes the ccg pages, as well as the standard pages.
If you want the 'main' pages listed in the prior two fields in a parent directory, you could do that by using a path like "../cards.htm" as the path for the main page.
- Excel Location - This is the full path where the excel spread sheets are located that contain the cards data.
The actual spread sheet names are associated with each individual card series.
- Scroller Color - This is the color which will be used in the background of the srolling information at the top of each page in the unregistered version of the application.
The value is entered as a hexedecimal representation of a Red, Green, Blue value set.
The first two 'digits' represent the red intensity of the field. 00 means no red, all the way up to FF for full red intensity.
The second two 'digits' represent the green intensity of the field. 00 means no green, all the way up to FF for full green intensity.
The last two 'digits' represent the blue intensity of the field. 00 means no blue, all the way up to FF for full blue intensity.
The default value is FFBBEE, which is the pinky color used on my pages.
If you were to use 000000 the background would be black and you would see no text.
If you were to use FFFFFF the background would be white.
Experiment with this field to get a scroller color which matches nicely with your backgroung gif on the generated card tables.
- Update Generated Date - This is the default value used on the other Update Generated Date check boxes throughout the application.
This value can only be unchecked on registered versions of the application.
It is recommended that this value be left checked, even on the registered version, and you uncheck the value each time prior to generating the page for a card series if you need to.
- Change TACTS Location - This button allows you to change the location of the TACTS database files. When this application was downloaded, there were two files for Microsoft Access. TACTApp.mde and TACTData.mdb.
To relocate the application. First Shutdown Microsoft Access and Move the TACTApp.mde file to your desired location and Copy the TACTData.mdb file to your desired location. Then start TACTApp.mde from the new location and
use the menu to navigate to this new current screen. Press the Change TACTS Location button. You will be promted for the new location for TACTS. Enter the whole path and filename for the new TACTData.mdb file. For Instance,
Enter: C:\New Path\New SubDirectory\TACTData.mdb
After entering the new location press the OK Button. The window will briefly disappear, then reappear.
When the Window Reappears, shut down TACTS and delete the TACTData.mdb file from the OLD Location and restart TACTS.
To move the downloaded spreadsheet files, just change them to the new directory and update the Excel Location field as described earlier in this document.
